MENSA admission testing
The Mensa Admission Tests are composed of two tests featuring questions involving logic and deductive reasoning. If you score at or above the 98th percentile on either of the two tests, you’ll qualify and be invited to join Mensa.
It is important to note that our tests are given for the purpose of admission into Mensa and not to provide an IQ score. A qualifying score indicates that you’ve tested at, or better than, 98 percent of the general population. American Mensa will release membership qualification only. No further information on test scores will be released.
We offer test sessions at various times and places. The tests are administered locally, and then sent in to the Mensa national office for scoring. Results are usually sent out within 2–3 weeks. It is also possible to qualify for Mensa membership using previously taken test scores. For more information about this method of qualifying through the use of prior evidence, please visit the American Mensa website. To register for testing updates, visit the national testing portal.
Candidates who fail to qualify initially may retake the test at a later date.
Registration
Anyone seeking admission to Mensa is invited to attend, so bring a friend, or bring the family. Seating is limited, and will be granted first to those with reservations, based on the order in which people sign up, and then to walk-ins, in the order in which they arrive.
If you decide to take our admissions test, please bring: A valid photo ID giving
proof of age and the $60 payment (plus any coupons or vouchers you intend to use). We accept cash, Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Discover or checks made payable to American Mensa, Ltd. Please visit the national testing portal for more information about finding a testing location.
You must be a US resident and at least 14 years old to take the test. If you are under 18, a parent should accompany you to the test site to fill out the required parental consent form. Everything else, pencils, scrap paper, test booklets, and answer sheets, will be provided for you there. We also recommend getting a good night’s sleep and a pleasant meal before arriving at the test site.
Contact our Testing Coordinator if you have any questions. Further information on Mensa can be found at the American Mensa website. Additional information will accompany registration confirmations.
